Two KU-WEE Hub research teams are getting ready for the piloting of their instruments, after holding discussions to finalise on their field protocols.
During two separate virtual meetings held on 16th and 18th June 2021 respectively, the SGBV and WIM researchers together with the Hub Committee deliberated at length on the final touches to improve their proposals in order to enhance credibility of the data to be collected. Led by Prof. Grace Wamue-Ngare as the Principal Investigator, the researchers on the study on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) will refine their budget and effect other improvements suggested by the team before proceeding to the field. This study is one of three studies under the project’s third thematic area: Violence, Crisis and Women’s work.
On the other hand, researchers on Women in Manufacturing (WIM) led by Prof. Nelson Wawire will submit their proposal for an ethical review and acquire a research permit before proceeding for piloting. The Study is under the first thematic area: Women’s Roles in Public and Private Sectors. Other Studies under this theme are Participation of Women in Corporate Governance, Women’s Economic Empowerment Index, Women’s Participation in Management and Leadership Positions in the Public Sector, and Gender Responsive Budgeting.
While commending the researchers on their commitment to the development of the research proposals, the Hub Leader, Prof. Judith Waudo assured the teams of the Hub’s support as they embark on fieldwork.
