KU-WEE Hub Team Meets the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife

On 18th March 2021, a team of three KU-WEE Hub researchers working on the research project on Gendered Impacts of the Kenyan Government Policy Responses to COVID-19 Pandemic visited the Principal Secretary (PS), State Department of Tourism, Hon. Safina Kwekwe Tsungu. Present with the PS was a team from the Tourism and Gender Workforce Policy Committee and the Principal Tourism Officer at the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. The PS and her team laid out comprehensive strategies in place to guide the tourism industry in the Covid-19 period, the stakeholders involved and the expected outcomes. Further, she proposed that a team of five members from her Department join the KU Research Project to support its implementation. The team is expected to ensure that the findings of the Project are used to shape gender equality policies in the hospitality and tourism industries in Kenya. The PS appreciated the WEE Hub research approach.
