KU-WEE Hub engaged in revision of Kenya’s Tourism Policy and Tourism Bill

KU-WEE Hub’s findings have influenced policies in the ministry of Tourism and Wildlife

Principal Investigator in the study on Gendered Impact of Covid-19, Dr. Leah Wanjama (Center) led the KU team during the discussions

Women’s Economic Empowerment Hub, KU, in collaboration with GTRCMC-EA, KU, at Utalii Hotel, held a consultative meeting with the Directors of Tourism and other key officers at the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. The team agreed on key components that need to be included in the revised Tourism Policy and Tourism Bill. Key amongst the main content include Amalgamation of levies, cushioning of employees and businesses and Affirmative action for women in tourism.

The inclusion of Hub findings in the policy documents reiterates the Hub’s commitment to policy advocacy, which is one of the key approaches in our research.
