The study examined the livelihoods of women in Tharaka Nithi County. It was established that agriculture is the key livelihood activity, but there is a gap between inputs and returns. The gap is because women engage in rudimentary agriculture hence the low returns.
The study recommended adoption of smart agricultural practices that needed to be informed through policy. In this regard, a policy brief titled “Improving Livelihoods Through Regenerative Agriculture Strategy” was sent to Tharaka-Nithi County.
Tharaka Nithi County adopted the policy brief and a policy titled Improving Livelihoods Through Regenerative Agriculture Strategy in Tharaka Nithi County 2025 – 2030.
